SECAP™ PRINTERS, CASS CERTIFICATION AND POSTNET BARCODES
Secap™ internal barcode generation is one of the most efficient built-in features offered in addressing systems. For faster printing and higher resolution, a great choice in printing a USPS barcode is to generate the barcode from within the printer. Secap™ printers will automatically print 9 digit barcodes (52 bars), or 5 digit barcodes (27 bars) only.
As of 1 July 1998, all Secap™ address printers are no longer CASS certified.
Secap™ printers do not generate internal delivery point (DP) bars from address information. CASS certified software must be used with a Secap address printer to print a certified DP barcode (62 bars). CASS software must send all 11 (or 12) USPS barcode digits to the Secap™ printer for a proper DP barcode to be printed.
All users of Secap™ printers that print Delivery Point bar code (12 digit POSTNET bar code) must use a program that contains CASS certified lists and supply the delivery point information to the Secap printer.
All firmware after 1 July 1998 does not contain automatic delivery point bar code generation.
